We have got another update for you, the iPhone Dev Team has just released PwnageTool 5.0.1 to the public for download.

For those who don’t know, PwnageTool is a popular jailbreak app developed by iPhone Dev Team to create a custom IPSW firmware file which (right now) enables you to upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 and preserve your unlock. And depending on your iOS device, you can also configure IPSW firmware with Cydia packages and boot logos.

In addition to this, latest PwnageTool 5.0.1 allows users to make a custom IPSW firmare file for iOS 5.0.1, this is done in order to preserve your iPhone baseband so that you can perform an unlock by using the latest UltraSn0w version.

Important: PwnageTool 5.0.1 is only for Mac users, for those on Windows, please wait for Sn0wBreeze.

How To Create Custom iOS 5.0.1 IPSW Using PwnageTool 5.0.1

Step 1: First off, download iOS 5.0.1 IPSW firmware files depending on your iOS devices.

Step 2: Now download PwnageTool 5.0.1 for Mac using below-mentioned link:

- PT 5.0.1 for Mac [torrent download]

Step 3: Once downloaded, run PwnageTool 5.0.1.

Step 4: From top of the interface you will find different modes, select “Expert mode” and then select your iOS devices, hit next.

Step 5: Now hit “Browse”, locate iOS 5.0.1 IPSW firmware file on your hard drive you just downloaded (from step 1).

Step 6: (That is where you will build a custom firmware for your iOS device) Simply click on “Build” and let PwnageTool do the job for you, it will take some time.

Step 7: The last thing to do is to place your iOS device in DFU mode, follow the instructions on your screen.

Connect your iPhone using cables, open iTunes and select your iPhone from iTunes sidebar and press hold “ALT” button on Mac, for Windows users, press hold left “Shift” button then click “Restore” and locate the custom firmware that you just cooked using Pwnage Tool.
